Release 2.3

Hi,

Yesterday night, we uploaded a new release on the server (version 2.3). To know more about what we changed, please read on……

We are constantly upgrading features on our website to make things simpler for our scouts. If you have any feedback with respect to this release or if you are looking for a new feature that we want us to build, please feel free to let me know by adding a comment here (clicking the number on the top-right of this post) or writing to me at guneet DOT sahai AT chahiye DOT info

The following Enhancements  have been implemented as part of this release.

Refer a Scout
When somebody refers a person to our platform, instead of just sending an email with benefits of our platform we are now sending a personalized key along with the URL of registration page. The referred person can quickly click on the link in the email and register. Not to mention, the referred person gets added to the original scout’s network.

Forgort Password

A lot of people we noticed were not able to login as they simply forgot password after registering. We now have a forgot password functionality - which prompts the user for the email address and sends the user the password as SMS on the registered mobile phone.

Job Forward

Prior to this release when a scout used to forward a job to a friend, we were just sending an email with job details. Now we also provide a URL in that email, clicking on which one can see job opening details & more importantly can also apply for the same. Once applied, this would be treated as a referral for the scout who had originally forwarded the opening.

 SMS Notifications

When somebody forwards a job opening or refers a scout we are now sending an SMS to the person referred at his/her mobile number.

My Applications

Job Forwards are now been shown in “My Applications”. A user when forwards a job opening to a friend can see the status of this forward in “My Applications” and once the friend applies to the forwarded job, then the application is immediately visible as a referral too.

 Job Applications

When applying or referring a friend for a Job Opening a scout can provide a cover-note & Candidate’s Name besides the fields that existed earlier. These details are pre-filled if the scout wants to apply himself/herself for an opening.

Besides these enhancements, a few bugs were fixed too. These were

# Registration Page did not have a validation on max amount of data that can be supplied as part of “Additional Details”
# Job Forward : The outgoing email had scout’s user Name set as sender-id instead of scout’s email address.
# Registration Page : On selecting “BITS Pilani” as institute was prompting to set other details.
# After Applying to a Job, the hyper links on the success page did not work.
# Terms & Conditions Page not looking proper - Style sheet somehow was not getting used there.

What Do You Like About The Way Companies Hire ?

Before I started Chahiye, I have interviewed with companies some 6 / 7 times over the last 5 years. I have varying impressions of how companies interview. With some companies, its been an incredible experience interviewing - you come back with a very good feeling - its been a genuine dialog. You understand what the firm needs, what its culture is and alignment is mutually established.

However, there have also been cases where the discussions have been very one sided. The interviewer is more of an “interrogator” - less interested in discovering what is special about you than she is in identifying weaknesses in your experience. I’ve often found that the follow ups from the HR teams in these companies are found wanting in its professionalism. Weeks go by before you are updated of what happened to your application (though you know its a relevant one).

Please let me know of, when you’ve interviewed with organizations, what are some of the things you think can be be improved upon ?
Also, would be very keen on understanding from you how your experience with placement firms has been ?

Referral Rewards - Made Simple

We’ve received feedback that its not very clear what our reward structure is and that we need a more simplified view of that.
So I thought I’d put in this table below to make it easier to understand.

Talent Scout reward table

Thus there are 4 ways to earn on the Chahiye Jobs platform.

  1. When you refer a candidate who gets hired: 30%
  2. When you refer another Talent Scout (1st Level Scout for you) who then applies: 30%
  3. When you refer another Talent Scout who refers a candidate who gets hired: 10%
  4. When you refer a Talent Scout who refers another Scout (2nd level Scout for you) who applies: 10%

The Chahiye Jobs Talent Scout Platform

Its been 2 weeks now since we officially launched the Talent Scout network and we thought that we finally have enough to share to post on our blog.

These two weeks have seen us getting a rather overwhelming response to this platform.
We’ve registered around 300 Scouts and have met with enthusiasm regarding its value proposition whenever we’ve spoken to potential clients.

We’ve posted a few openings and have received a large no. of applications to them as well. Our first job win through this platform is probably still a few days away but we can hardly wait for that feeling and to share the news with you.

We’ve had our first failure as well - two jobs that we posted on our platform got closed at the client through outside the Chahiye network. It wasnt a very happy feeling to write to the ones who’d applied - we felt that we’d let you down. We’ll be trying our very best to improve over the coming weeks and months so that these instances of “failures” diminish significantly.

Some of you have been very kind with your comments and have even expressed interested in joining Chahiye - we’re hoping that one day soon, we’d be posting a job opening on this network with Chahiye as an employer :)

Some of you have helped us with ideas on missing features - things like “forgot password” etc that we will soon be actioning.

There are a few areas that we need to clearly improve upon as well - our messaging for one. We’ve received feedback that since this is a relatively new concept, our text explanation of how the reward structure works is a bit too verbose and many people would not have read it. We’re trying to improve upon this by having a nice graphical depiction of the same.

Having said all these things, the fact remains that we’re still in a
very very nascent stage. The coming days are going to be very very busy with primarily 4 things

1. Adding more clients: we’re adding top firms in consulting / analytics & business research / banking & private equity in the coming few weeks. We hope to become for our members the one place to be for jobs within these industries. (of course, we’d scale out to other industries later)
2. Increasing our network. Currently, we’re out about 300 Talent Scouts. We want to get to about 2000 by end of October
3. Technology / website: Adding features such as winning calculators / network views etc
4. Operations: We’ll be building a sizeable team to support this business from the time that any of our members apply or refer to jobs.

We are really looking forward to making this a win-win proposition for all of us and are counting on you to spread the word around.

You can write to support@chahiye.info if you’d like to become a Scout.

Prayas Partnership

As you might have read on our website or on some of our marketing material, we’ve recently tied up with Prayas Juvenile Aid Center and will be donating 20% of our gross revenue from the Real Estate Brokerage service to Prayas.

Prayas is an organization that supports disadvantaged kids – those who have been victims of human trafficking, bonded labour, or those that have been abandoned at railway platforms etc and provides them with a home at one of their shelters. And provides them with health, education & recreation and looks after them till they’ve been taught a practical skill that they can use to make a living for themselves. Children normally end up staying with Prayas till they are 14 / 15 years of age and are equipped to take care of themselves.

It’s about 2 months ago that we got to know of Prayas through a friend who’d made a nice slideshow on Prayas along with a very poignant voice over. One line that resonated with me was “Every time you see a child on the streets, try and remember how easy it would have been for you to not have been born in the luxury apartment you now live in, but just 50 meters away in the construction workers’ sprawl that lies in the dust .”

Upon reflection, one cant help but feel extremely lucky about how my life has turned out. But with this luck, comes responsibility – to not be concerned just with myself or with making money but helping others and making this world a better place.

We feel that of all the major institutions that exist in our world today – business, government, family, religion – business is the one that is best equipped to resolve some of these modern day problems of serious inequality.

This partnership is an effort to align business with social good – 20% of revenues is not a small amount – we’re not paying lip service to corporate social responsibility. We believe in it deeply. We want to support 1,000 kids through this partnership and reckon that it will take us having relationships with around 3,000 apartments to generate the Rs 60 lakhs (6 million) annually that we will give to Prayas.

We hope that when people read about this, they consider it a sincere effort to make a difference through an otherwise mundane business model.  We have a few other businesses as our role models that are being run in sustainable and soulful ways and it is our constant endeavour to behave responsibly.

We feel that such ethical alignment coupled with the world beating customer experience / service that we seek to provide to our clients will be good enough reasons for more people to adopt Chahiye as their preferred real estate partner.

We would love to hear from you on what you think of this partnership and we would love to hear from you about any experiences you might have had with institutions like Prayas / CRY and how you felt a difference was made in a child’s life.

Cheers.
